Torre delle Stelle Corre 2026: sport, community and territory in memory of Edith Pelgrims de Bigard

Torre delle Stelle recently experienced an evening dedicated to sport, participation and community with the fourth edition of “Torre delle Stelle Corre, Una corsa tra le stelle”, which this year carried an even more meaningful significance as the first Memorial Edith Pelgrims de Bigard.

Almost 200 people took part in the competitive race and recreational walk, transforming the streets of Torre delle Stelle into a route shared by athletes, sports enthusiasts, residents and visitors. The strong participation confirms the growth of an event that has become an important part of the destination’s summer calendar.

Organised by ASD Atletica Maracalagonis, with the approval of the UISP Territorial Committee of Cagliari and the patronage of the Municipality of Maracalagonis, in collaboration with ASD Atletica Selargius and SSD ARL Parco Torre delle Stelle, the event unfolded along the characteristic unpaved roads of the village. Starting and finishing in Via Orione in front of the amphitheatre, the competitive race followed a circuit of approximately 3 kilometres to be completed twice, passing through Via dei Pesci, Via della Fenice and Via Ercole, with views over the Gulf of Angels providing a spectacular natural backdrop.

Valerio Caredda of Atletica Selargius won the men’s competition with a time of 20 minutes and 48 seconds. Elisa Spazzafumo of Atletica Edoardo Sanna Elmas took first place among the women, finishing seventh overall in 23 minutes and 29 seconds. A total of 79 athletes completed the competitive race, which also welcomed international participants.

However, the significance of Torre delle Stelle Corre goes far beyond the final rankings.

Almost 200 participants across the race and recreational walk demonstrated how sport can become a powerful opportunity to bring together people of different ages and backgrounds. Several tourists also joined the event, attracted by its evening format and the distinctive natural setting of Torre delle Stelle.

During the closing ceremony, attention was also drawn to the wider value that events like this can generate for Torre delle Stelle and the surrounding territory. Sporting, cultural and social initiatives contribute to the visibility of the destination, support local activity and, above all, create opportunities for residents and visitors to meet and share meaningful experiences.

This year’s event also carried a particularly meaningful dimension through the first Memorial Edith Pelgrims de Bigard, dedicating the fourth edition of the race to her memory.

“Torre delle Stelle Corre” perfectly represents one of the many sides of our destination. Torre delle Stelle means sea and relaxation, but also sport, nature, outdoor activities and community. Events like this offer a different way to experience the territory and remind us that the people and moments we share are an essential part of what makes this place special.

Congratulations to the organisers, athletes, volunteers and everyone who contributed to the success of the event.
